AMD Officially Launches the Radeon RX 5500 XT

After all of the leaks over the past few weeks the AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT is official. With this card AMD is targeting the entry-level so we can expect this card to be a very good 1080p card. Going over specifications the RX 5500 XT will feature 22 Compute Units, 1408 Stream Processors, 88 TMUs, 32 ROPs, and a 128-bit wide GDDR6 memory interface. This card will be faster than the RX 5500 which launched on the OEM channel as it has a faster game clock of 1717 MHz and boost clock of 1845 MHz.

AMD will make the card available in both 4GB and 8GB variants using 14 Gbps GDDR6 memory. The card also has a TDP of 130W. AMD hopes that these new cards will replace the aging Polaris 4XX and 5XX graphics cards. These cards are still popular among gamers as they are repetitively inexpensive. AMD is definitely marketing this card as “the card” for 1080p gaming. Much like how they said the RX 5700 XT is was the card for 1440p.

The card will compete heavily with NVIDIA’s GTX 1650 and GTX 1650 Super. AMD will be pricing the RX 5500 XT at $169.99 for the 4GB variant and $199.99 for the 8GB variant. The card has launched exclusively through AMD’s add-in board (AIB) partners with many models available today at launch.
