AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT is Recommended for Resident Evil Village with Raytracing

During the official announcement of the new Radeon RX 6700 XT, AMD also revealed that the upcoming Resident Evil Village will have support for ray tracing along with other AMD proprietary technologies named FidelityFX. Unfortunately, there is no confirmation from both the developer or AMD regarding the FidelityFX being enabled in the game. Resident Evil Village shares the same RE engine as Resident Evil 3; hence there is a high chance that Resident Evil Village will also support FidelityFX CAS (Contrast Adaptive Sharpening).

The Ray Accelerator installed in each commute unit of AMD RDNA 2 graphics card makes hardware acceleration for ray tracing possible, but AMD is unwilling to talk about the ray tracing acceleration performance on Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards and how these cards perform against NVIDIAs GPUs. AMD ray tracing performance can be compared to NVIDIA Turing despite the difference in the implementation. AMD implemented using DirectX RayTracing (DXR), whereas NVIDIA relies on DXR, Vulkan RT Extensions, and its proprietary RTX technology.

It remains unclear if NVIDIA cards will support ray tracing in RE: Village. However, it should be considered that NVIDIA cards have already received ray tracing for Godfall, an AMD card exclusive game, after three months, the game was released.

It should be noted that AMD itself recommends a more powerful GPU than RX 6700XT raytracing-enabled gaming.

AMD also states that the card should be paired with Ryzen 5 1600, which isn’t considered best for gaming but for how affordable it is.
