AMD is ready with Ryzen 7 3750X, 3850X Mattise Refresh CPUs

There are signs indicating AMD introducing a couple of Ryzen 3000 ‘Mattise Refresh’ CPUs. These will be placed above the Ryzen 7 3800X and the 3700X. The Ryzen 7 3850X and the 3750X will still be 7nm eight-core, sixteen thread Zen 2 microarchitecture variants. Higher base/boost speed may result in higher TDP. It is not sure why would AMD bother to release a couple of new CPUs when the next-gen release is inevitable.

Gigabyte leaked slides indicate its existence

Gigabyte leaked slide Matisse Refresh Ryzen 3000

It is unlikely these are going to be sold exclusively for system integrators considering Gigabyte mention the Matisse Refresh CPUs. The source indicates that AMD plans to release the refreshed Ryzen 7 3850X and the Ryzen 7 3750X CPUs. Apart from minor performance changes, it will have a higher clock speed. Gigabyte also indicated a ‘Mattise Refresh’ in one of its leaked slides, solidifying this finding.

Its likely AMD planned this to compete with Intel Comet Lake desktop lineup CPUs, to fill any gap there is until the red team can release the Ryzen 4000 series of CPUs. With a good B550 motherboard, this will be a good combination for a wide range of mid-to-high end users.

Possible release dates

It is likely to be silently listed to retail on the June 16, when AMD B550 motherboards will be retailing. AMD is also planning to release the Renoir APUs and the A520 chipset, possibly in August.
