AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Benchmarked: Up To 37% Faster Than 5800X3D

As we near the launch of AMD’s highly anticipated 3D V-Cache CPU, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, it has started appearing in online benchmarks, giving us more information to work with. A popular Twitter user, momomo_us, recently shared SiSoftware benchmark results featuring the new processor. While this may be both good and bad for companies trying to keep information confidential, it’s sparking excitement among AMD fans who are analyzing the results and making informed predictions.

The AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU is the latest addition to the Zen 4 3D V-Cache lineup and the third one released by the company. It’s a successor to the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which has been a popular gaming chip since its release. With 8 cores, 16 threads, and 104 MB of cache (32 MB CCD, 64 MB V-Cache + 8 MB L2), the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is the perfect choice for gamers. Its base clock is expected to be around 4 GHz, which is roughly 500 MHz slower than the Ryzen 7 7700X. However, it has a boost clock of 5.0 GHz, which is 400 MHz slower than the Ryzen 7 7700X.

What makes this AMD CPU stand out is its unique design and the incredible value it offers for gamers. Unlike the other processors in the 3D V-Cache series, AMD opted to use just one chiplet and add an extra 3D V-Cache layer to it. The Ryzen 9 7950X3D and 7900X3D, on the other hand, use a dual chiplet design, which can cause imbalance as they switch between a non-V-Cache and V-Cache CCD depending on the load. This is where AMD’s algorithm comes into play.

AMD’s algorithm will determine whether to prioritize frequency or cache, resulting in better resource management. However, the more straightforward design of the new AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU eliminates the need for such software management. Moreover, it’s more affordable than other processors in the 3D V-Cache Zen 4 series. At the moment, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D sells on the official website for $699, and the 7900X3D is priced at $549. Retailers like Amazon charge even more. However, the expected price for the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is $449.

The benchmark test showed that the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D scored 395.07 GOPS (Giga Operations Per Second). This marks a significant 37% improvement over its predecessor, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. As a result, users can expect a much faster gaming performance that rivals or even surpasses that of the Core i9-13900K, while also delivering higher multi-threading performance compared to the previous generation.

One noteworthy finding from the SiSoftware leak is that the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D has a maximum speed of 5.05 GHz, slightly higher than previously reported. It’s worth noting that the processor doesn’t allow for overclocking, so the added boost is believed to come from Precision Boost Overdrive, which is supported by AMD CPUs.

The official release date for the new AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU is April 6th. Consumers will be able to purchase it from AMD’s website and various retailers such as Amazon, Newegg, and Best Buy.
