Apple’s A12Z Bionic Beats Ryzen 5 4500U and Core i7-1065G7 iGPUs in OpenCL Test

Apple’s A12Z Bionic is similar to the A12X Bionic other than the one extra GPU core enabled making it a total of eight cores. According to the previously leaked benchmark results, the point to ponder is – the transnational layer of Apple’s Rosetta 2 may deliver a slump in performance running on macOS 11. Luckily, considering the OpenCL test of the A12Z Bionic’s GPU, it is powerful enough to handle two processor integrated graphics solution.

Adding to more details, two results were shared by _rogame which includes the A12Z Bionic GPU competes with the Ryzen 5 4500U GPU running at 1500 MHz powered by six cores on HP Envy 15-inch x360. The results were not surprising as A12Z Bionic’s GPU took the lead and beat the Windows 10 powered machine.

Additionally, the same test was run on the Microsoft Surface Book 3 with an Intel Core i7-1065G7 and the results were the same. The Bionic A12Z gained a lead against the processor by fraction keeping it in mind that its not the native version of Geekbench 5’s OpenCL test and it used Rosetta 2 to emulate the x86 version of Geekbench.

According to the initial speed tests, the A12Z Bionic in the Mac mini didn’t deliver the same performance as compared to the 2020 iPad Pro courtesy – the test only used the performance cores which were operating at lower clock speed.

Now the interesting part is that the story does not end here. Previously a leaked report stated that the first ARM-based Mac will sport a 12-core 5nm silicon chipset featuring 8 high-performance and 4 energy-efficient cores. As the result we will witness a massive increase in GPU and CPU based tests running on consumer-ready ARM-based Macs.
