ASUS Releases Prime TRX40-PRO S Motherboard

ASUS has just released the Prime TRX40-PRO S socket sTRX4 motherboard made for 3rd generation Ryzen Threadripper HEDT processors. This board is part of a series of refreshes that ASUS is doing with their sTRX4 motherboards. The refreshes started with the the ROG Zenith II Extreme Alpha, then the ROG Strix TRX40-XE Gaming and now we have the TRX40-PRO S. These refreshes are really for enthusiasts who want to overclock their Ryzen Threadripper 3990X processors.

TRX40 PRO S 2

ASUS’s older TRX40-PRO will run and overclock your Ryzen Threadripper 3990X no problem, but the new TRX40-PRO S is just better suited to do it. It comes with a 16-phase CPU VRM with 70A power stages, which are the same one that are on the original ROG Rampage II Extreme. ASUS did a similar thing with the Extreme Alpha upgrading it with 90A power stages.

TRX40 PRO S 1

Besides the VRM upgrade the board is basically the same as the original TRX40-PRO. Expect a price around $430 for the board.
