Gaming Monitors With 480Hz Refresh Rate Are Coming For Desktops And Laptops

Display Week sadly doesn’t get much limelight and most of you might not even have heard of it. However, some things are causing a stir and this year’s event will show some high speed displays by AU Optronics. They have released a picture of one which shows a WQHD (3440×1440) curved display with a DisplayHDR 1000 certification. It comes with a fast refresh rate of 200Hz. This is not just it; the company has also unveiled pictures of other display units that it claims are even faster than this.

AU Optronics isn’t a new name in the industry. The Taiwanese company is quite prominent in the market of display panels and is known for its speedy refresh rates. This might catch some of you by surprise, but the ASUS ROG Swift PG259QN was also manufactured by AU Optronics. This one has a refresh rate of 360 Hz and comes with an In-Plane Switching (IPS) panel. So far, this is one of the fastest gaming monitors on the market right now.

Another unit which was displayed at the Display Week event was the 24-inch Full HD 1080p monitor which featured a Twisted Nematic (TN) screen. These panels are not as aesthetically pleasing as the IPS or the Vertical Alignment panels but they are comparatively cheaper and extremely fast. This model has a crazy response time of sub -1ms and refresh rate of 480 Hz!

Notebook panels are also getting upgraded to speedier versions alongside the desktop panels. Another 16-inch gaming laptop was also teased by the AU Optronics with the same resolution of 1920×1080 and a crazy refresh rate of 480Hz.
