Back in 2019, AMD launched it’s Ryzen 3000 Zen 2 desktop processors and X570 platform, due to which a lot of PCIe 4.0-based SSDs were released. Luckily, the game has been uplifted as second-generation PCIe 4.0 SSDs are in the market for the past few months.
Gigabyte has also entered the market as it has announced its new Aorus Gen4 7000s SSDs. Gigabyte claims that these SSDs can achieve a read/write speed of up to 7,000MB/sec.
Gigabyte made this possible by using an 8-channel Phison E18 SSD controller. The SSD also features a combination of 3D TLC NAND and SLC cache that help achieve these read and write speeds. As per Gigabyte, there’s a 55% increase in performance compared to the first-gen PCIe 4.0 SSDs.
These high read/write speeds produce a high volume of heat. In order to keep the SSD cool, the SSD features a double-sides aluminum heatsink with a nanocarbon coating providing a 30% improvement in heat dissipation. In case this cooling system does not work for you, there’s a heat sink design available with integrated heat pipes.
The Aorus Gen4 7000s SSDs will be available in two storage capacities, 1TB and 2TB capacities, along with a 5-year warranty. It will support X570/B550 motherboards and Intel’s Z490 platform (with a supported 11th generation Rocket Lake-S CPU installed). There is no information on the pricing yet.
