MSI Demos Spatium M570 PRO Gen5 SSD in RAID, Up to 23 GB/s Speeds!

Earlier this year at CES MSI introduced their Spatium M570 Pro PCIe 5.0 solid state drive. While the initial version has a small heatsink cooling solution, the new version has been updated with much larger heatsinks and offers even more performance!

These new drives will come in two different offerings. First there will be a FROZR design, which comes will a pretty large heatsink block with a triple heatpipe design. These heatpipes have a flat surface that allows them to make contact with the NVMe controller as well as the NAND chips on the drive for more effective heat transfer. The second offering is the FROZR+ which only has a single 6mm heatpipe, but features a Torx 5.0 fan that enables even higher cooling performance. MSI says the FROZR design allows for 20C cooler temperatures, while the FROZR+ design allows for 30C lower temperatures.

MSI had a few demos going on at their booth at Computex. They were first showing off the Spatium M570 Pro with the FROZR+ design. In this demo the drive had sequential read and write speeds of 14.5 GB/s and 12.4 GB/s respectively, while only reaching a maximum temperature of 44C.

The second demo was two of these drives running on a Gen5 XPANDER-Z card, which requires an extra 6-pin power connection. These drives were set to run in a RAID 0 configuration. In this configuration the drives had sequential read and write speeds of 22 GB/s and 23.1 GB/s respectively!

MSI is looking to price this drive in the $300-$400 range for a 2TB model. Expected release will be sometime in Q3 2023.
