Wccftech was able to receive some good news after a late-night discussion with Jensen. As per Jensen, NVIDIA will launch it’s RTX 3000 mobility series in January 2021. The company’s high-end GPUs will also be supported for AMD mobility CPUs.
As per NVIDIA’s 2021 roadmap for mobility lineup, NVIDIA will introduce RTX 3080, RTX 3070, and RTX 3060 GPUs that will replace it’s 20’s SUPER lineup and the RTX 2060. NVIDIA has no plans to replace the GTX 1660 Ti, GTX 1650 Ti, and the GTX 1650 during the first half of 2021. The detailed roadmap is available in the picture below.
The sources at Wccftech report that the RTX 3080 and RTX 3070 mobility GPUs will be given high priority so they can be launched in January 2021. Unfortunately, the GPUS will only be available in Laptops manufactured by MSI and ASUS as HP, Dell and Lenovo reportedly have delayed their support for new GPUs until April so they can pair it with their launch scheduled then. Due to this the RTX 2080 SUPER and RTX 2070 SUPER mobility GPUs are expected to be EOL-ed in January 2021. There’s no news regarding the RTX 2070 mobility yet. Moreover, sources at Wccftech report that they expect the RTX 30 mobility series to have a short life as NVIDIA plans to switch to the 7nm TSMC for it’s RTX 30 Super variants.
While the GTX 1650 Ti and GTX 1660 Ti that will be launched in 2021, will not be identical to the one’s being currently sold as NVIDIA has made a brand new packaging for them, but we are not sure what hardware changes are made.
As far as the pricing is concerned, NVIDIA expects $699 for the laptops that will feature GTX 1650 while the laptops that will feature GTX 1650 Ti and GTX 1660 Ti should be priced around $799-$899. The laptops that will feature RTX 3060 should be priced at $999+ whereas the laptops featuring RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 should be priced at $1299 and $1999 respectively. We should consider the fact that these are the suggested prices by NVIDIA and they can vary.
Sources from Wccftech tell that retailers like Walmart receive subsidies from AMD, NVIDIA, and Intel so they should be able to offer this price easily. The rest of the retailers will receive the SKUs at high prices at launch, and it will only normalize once other retailers start purchasing the products in April 2021.
During the presentation, NVIDIA also provided the recommended specifications (laptops) for its mobility GPUs. A major announcement is that NVIDIA’s high-end GPUs will support the next generation of AMD Ryzen. This means that things are going to change once the AMD 5000 series (Cezzane-H) launches as the NVIDIA high-end GPUs will be compatible with AMD and Intel (TigerLake H) resulting in an increased sales as people wanting to pair NVIDIA GPU and AMD CPU will finally be able to do so.
There’s a word around that AIBs want to get rid of excess inventory of RTX 2000 series (especially the high end) before January 2021. This means that we can expect great deals in the holiday seasons(Black Friday and Cyber Monday). 2021 is going to be an exciting year for all tech enthusiasts.
