We have been hearing updates on the RTX 4090 and RTX 4070, and now it’s finally the RTX 4080 which is on the line for new updates. The RTX 40 series have gone through quite a few specs changes over the past couple of months with the most recent update in June. The famous NVIDIA leakster Kopite has been sharing updates on the specs of the RTX 4090 and the RTX 4070 but we hadn’t heard anything yet about the RTX 4080.
There is no surprise when it comes to the specs of the 4080 as there aren’t many major changes. The CUDA core count now stands at 9728. This means the Streaming Multiprocessors have been downgraded to 76 from 80. Other specs including the performance, TDP, and memory remain the same.
By default, the RTX 4080 requires 420W of power supply and it is expected to ship with a GDDR6X memory of 16 GB spread across a 256-bit interface. Keeping in mind these latest specs, we can conclude that all the high-end RTX 40 models will come with 21 Gbps modules.
We haven’t heard from Kopite regarding the 3DMark TimeSpy Extreme score. With fewer cores now, the clock speeds would have increased for sure. However, we don’t the original nor the current frequency to comment more on this.
NVIDIA is expected to announce the RTX 4090 in early October and the RTX 4080 will be announced at the same time.
