NVIDIA launched their GeForce RTX 4080 graphics card last month and while it does bring quite the performance boost over the previous RTX 3080, many people find the price a bit high. With an MSRP of $1200 it was the largest price bump that we’ve seen from an 80 series card from NVIDIA. With the more expensive price tag the card is not selling all that well as evident by the card being in stock at many retailers. This is unlike the RTX 4090, which has been sold out at retailers constantly since launch. It even appears as if scalpers are having a hard time unloading RTX 4080 cards.
Reported by the Chinese Board Channels, sources have said that NVIDIA is going to price-cut the RTX 4080 in mid-December. This timeline of course lines up with when AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 series graphics cards will be available in stores.
According to boardchannels, RTX 4080 will be adjusted price in mid-Dec.

The Chinese Board Channels report does say that this price-cut has nothing to do with AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 series, but NVIDIA actually reconsidering the price of the card to allow for better sales figures. It would seem it is a bit of both as AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 XTX is going to be $999, which of course is $200 cheaper than the RTX 4080, make it a solid option for many gamers.
If AMD does indeed drop the price of the RTX 4080, we could also see the RTX 4070 Ti price of $899 be dropped as well. The RTX 4070 Ti will officially be launched in January at CES 2023.
