Patriot Releases Viper VP4300 PCIe 4 SSD With Blazing Fast Read/Write Speeds

SSD manufacturers have started to up their game after AMD and Intel have released desktop platforms that support the PCIe 4.0 interface. Patriot has also entered the race as it has announced its Viper VP4300 PCIe 4.0 SSD.

The Viper VP4300 uses an Innogrit Rainier IG5236 controller that is paired with a premium DDR4 DRAM cache. This allows the SSD to achieve reading speeds of up to 7,400MB/sec and writing speeds of up to 6,800MB/sec. It can also deliver random reads/writes of 800K IOPS.

The VP4300 generates a lot of heat due to its fast speeds, and Patriot offers two solutions to tackle the heat. The first one is the traditional aluminum heatsink, while the other one is the low-profile graphene heat shield. Along with these solutions, the SSD also has thermal throttling algorithms installed in its firmware to ensure that it remains cool.

The Patriot Viper VP4300 is offered in two capacities, 1 TB and 2 TB. Both the variants can be pre-ordered from Amazon, where the 1TB SKU costs $224.99 and 2 TB is priced at $449.99. The VP4300 will officially be released on 23 April.
