PowerColor Announces Swappable Backplates For Radeon RX 7900 Red Devil Series

PowerColor has announced two new backplate designs, called Intrusive and Generative, that are compatible with the Radeon RX 7900 Red Devil series of GPUs. These backplates are optional and can be added to the flagship PowerColor GPUs.

The designs of these backplates are a perfect match for the RX 7900 Red Devil GPUs, but they are not compatible with the Hellhound or Liquid Devil versions. The backplates are attached through magnets and can be easily swapped without any installation required. PowerColor claims that these new designs provide “endless possibilities and truly unique design.” Gamers will have the flexibility to change the backplates whenever they want, thanks to their swappable nature.

Based on the specifications, the Intrusive backplate is made of plastic while the Generative skin is made of aluminum. It’s worth noting that both backplates will add 300g of weight to the card, which may cause the card to bend. Therefore, it’s recommended to add a support bracket to ensure the card remains properly supported.

It’s worth mentioning that the Intrusive and Generative backplates are not the only available designs for the Red Devil RX 7900 series. The company had already launched the series with two custom backplates, including the Limited Edition and the standard backplate.

PowerColor has promised that the two new custom backplates will be available through major retailers and their official store, but only for residents of the United States. The company announced that the Generative skin will be priced at $59.99, while the Intrusive model will retail for $29.99, according to the press release.
