Radeon RX 7900 XTX/XT TUF Gaming Clock Speeds Confirmed By ASUS

ASUS was the first manufacturer to introduce their bespoke Radeon RX 7900 GPUs, as earlier reported. These TUF Gaming cards are built on the 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT SKUs and feature a bespoke 3.6-slot thick triple-fan design along with three 8-pin power ports. ASUS has now revealed the clock speeds used in the four models mentioned.

ASUS published specifications mention the ‘default’ and ‘OC’ modes. The latter is the greatest official specification that may be applied using ASUS’ GPU Tweak program. As a result, it should not be regarded as an “out of the box” specification but rather the highest certified clock speed that is officially supported and will not void the warranty.

As a reminder, the normal game clock on the Radeon RX 7900 XT is 2300 MHz, with a boost speed that can reach 2500 MHz. This is 2000 MHz and 2400 MHz for the Radeon RX 7900 XT GPU, respectively.

The Radeon RX 7900 XTX TUF Gaming GPU OC Edition has a default clock speed of 2565 MHz, representing 2.6% (boost) factory overclocking. Therefore, in OC mode, the frequency is 4.6% higher than the AMD specifications. However, the overclock on the RX 7900 XT TUF OC model is slightly greater. The default clock speed is 2500 MHz, which is 4.1% higher than the specifications, while the OC option performs a 5.6% overclock via software.

Game clocks are much higher, although, with sufficient cooling, the GPU is more likely to hit the boost clock than the game clock. Overall, the performance improvements are comparable to Radeon RX 6900 XT TUF OC Gaming GPUs; however, it is worth remembering that ASUS did offer a higher tier TUF TOP Edition with even better overclocking.
