WD Black SN770 Gen4 NVMe Solid State Drive Review

As PCI-Express 4.0 solid state drives become more mainstream we are seeing even more drives come into the market. The latest drive from WD is their WD Black SN770, which actually happens to be a DRAM-less drive. Powered by an in-house SanDisk controller the 1TB version of the drive that we are taking a look at today boasts speeds of 5150 MB/s read and 4900 MB/s write. With these speeds you’ll definitely see an improvement over standard SATA-based solid state drives and even Gen3 NVMe drives. WD is pricing this drive pretty aggressively too as it sits as the budget model in the WD Black line. Is this a drive you should consider? Read on as we find out!

Special thanks to Western Digital for providing us with the WD Black SN770 Gen4 NVMe Solid State Drive to review.
