For those who appreciate wooden accessories, the Full Ki-Board Wireless keyboard from Hacoa might be worth checking out. This wireless mechanical keyboard is entirely adorned with wood trim and even features solid wood keycaps and an exterior housing. While it will be released on the 20th of this month in Asia with a hefty price tag of 99,000 yen ($745 USD), there is no news yet about a potential launch in other regions. However, since it has an English layout, it has the potential to be exported internationally.
While there have been several wooden-themed keyboards over the past few years, including hand-built models like the Wooden Apple-1 and laptops like the HP Envy with a wooden finish, none have been as thoroughly saturated in wood as Hacoa’s Ki-Board keyboard. The keyboard comes in a dark wood finish with a urethane protective coating and is available in either walnut or cherry flavors. Its most striking feature is the wooden keycaps, which have been laser-indented for an extra touch of luxury.
The Ki-Board is a full-sized keyboard that measures 395 x 140 x 31.5mm and includes a full number pad. It features “blue axis” mechanical keys that have a tactile clicky feel and an actuation force of 45g, with an actuation point of about 1.2mm. This keyboard is similar to low-profile gaming keyboards such as the Cooler Master SK 630 & 631, which have low-profile Cherry MX red switches with nearly identical characteristics. The only difference is that the Ki-board “blue axis” switches are tactile clicky switches like Cherry MX blues, instead of the linear and quieter MX reds. Cherry doesn’t make low-profile versions of its blue switches.
The keyboard is powered by a 1,000mAh battery with a continuous operating time of 240 hours and a charging time of two hours. It can connect via 2.4GHz wireless support and Bluetooth 5.0 support, and its USB Type-C port is only for charging.
As an added bonus, the keyboard comes with a detachable wooden palm/handrest that matches the keycaps and exterior housing, which makes it an appealing choice for anyone with a wooden-themed office setup. However, the keyboard is quite expensive, and buyers outside of Asia can expect to pay high shipping fees.
