Seagate has reportedly begun shipping what it claims is the industry's first and only 4TB hard drive to utilize 1TB-per-platter technology. These drives can be found in Seagate's Barracuda 7200.15 series. Seagate says the four-platter design allows for the highest performance possible while doubling capacity and reducing costs, ultimately giving consumers the best of all worlds. The drive has 4000 GB of unformatted space, a 7,200 RPM spindle-speed, 64 MB buffer, and SATA 6 Gb/s interface.
