Affordable Smart Home Devices Under $40

Smart Home devices have been around for a few years now. You would think being the tech nerd that I am I would have been all over smart home devices, but I only really got into smart home a this year. I think the big thing for me was I didn't want a bunch of different apps for different products. What brings smart home devices together now are smart home hubs like Amazon Echo and Google Home. With these we can control all of our devices with a single application and much more. Now that I've had to chance to really get into smart home here are 5 affordable smart home devices that you can pickup for under $40! Just in time for the holidays!

Google Pulls YouTube from Amazon’s FireTV

If you turned on your Amazon FireTV and loaded up the YouTube app you would get a notice that the app will stop working starting January 1, 2018. YouTube is of course the world's largest video sharing site as well as the world's most popular on-demand video service. So not having it supported on a steaming device is a big deal. Google has said their decision to pull it from Amazon devices was in response to Amazon hampering sales of Google products.

Ryzen RMA Fraud Going On At Amazon

I don't think we've ever seen anything like this. It seems Amazon's inventory of Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 5 processors seem to be suffering from RMA fraud. It has been reported that this fraud consists of an unknown party buying up Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 5 series processors and them RMAing them back to Amazon with a fake CPU inside.

Lenovo Smart Assistant Is A Cheaper Amazon Echo

Products like Philips Hue and Belkin WeMo have made it easy to control lights and other devices in your home. Introduce Amazon Echo into the mix, and saying something as simple as, ‘Alexa, turn on the Kitchen lights’ makes controlling your devices even easier. Lenovo has created Smart Assistant which can accomplish the same tasks as Echo but at a lower price point.

Ahead of its launch, which we would expect will be in a couple of weeks at CES 2016 the Thermaltake TOUGHPOWER DPS G RGB Titanium Certified 1250W power supply was leaked on Amazon. This will be Thermaltake's latest power supply entry and it is quite unique. Currently listed as unavailable on Amazon it will retail for $379.99 when released.
