ASUS Makes an Offer to Buy ASRock

Well this is some interesting news for the weeekend. It seems like ASUS has made an offer to buy ASRock's motherboard division. If ASRock accepts the deal and it goes through this could really shake up the motherboard market. As it stands now ASUS is the number 1 motherboard maker with Gigabyte following second and ASRock coming in third. Combining the number 1 and 3 motherboard manufacturers could really hurt many other of the board makers as they would not have the volume or competitive pricing to compete with one big ASUS / ASRock giant.

Xi3 Modular Computers Hit Kickstarter

I've been working with desktops for years, every time there is some big advancement in laptops people say desktops are done, but it has yet to happen. Desktops are not done by any means, "they've just been boring" says the developers of the Xi3 Modular Computer Project. They want to change the way computers a built, serviced, and upgraded. They have taken their latest project to <a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/262476727/xi3-help-us-usher-in-the-post-pc-era" target="_blank">Kickstarter</a> where they are looking to raise a quarter of a million dollars.

Tim Cook apologizes for iOS 6 Maps Mess

If you purchased a new <a href="http://thinkcomputers.wpengine.com/the-iphone-5-what-you-should-know/">iPhone 5</a>, or upgraded your current iPhone to iOS 6 you noticed that your Maps apps is not longer a Google app, but Apple's own. Many people are <a href="http://theamazingios6maps.tumblr.com/" target="_blank">unhappy with these maps</a> and really think that they should have stuck with Google. Now Apple is admitting that their Maps app is not up to snuff. In an open letter to the Apple faithful Apple CEO Tim Cook apologized for not delivering a "World Class" product and suggested using competitors products from the likes of Bing, MapQuest, Google and Nokia, at least until Apple sorts this mess out.
