Pexar, a Lexar-powered smart-device brand, has launched the PexarBolt Ultra TBT5 Dock on Kickstarter. The desktop dock combines Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, professional media readers, an internal NVMe slot, 10GbE networking, and a five-inch touch dashboard for monitoring connected hardware and system activity.

Key takeaways

  • 22-in-1 Thunderbolt 5 dock for macOS and Windows systems.
  • Up to 80 Gbps bidirectional bandwidth, or 120 Gbps transmit bandwidth with Bandwidth Boost.
  • Supports dual 8K 60Hz or triple 4K 144Hz display configurations.
  • Includes CFexpress Type B, SD UHS-II, and microSD UHS-II readers.
  • Kickstarter early-bird pricing starts at $479; planned retail pricing is $649.

The dashboard is the dock’s defining feature. Pexar says the five-inch touchscreen provides real-time information about device connections, transfer activity, storage, supported-port power readings, temperature, and fan status. A physical metal dial provides tactile control for navigating the interface.

Pexar also says an AI Status feature can allow users to approve or reject requests from supported AI coding agents through the dock. That capability is aimed at developers and power users, although its usefulness will depend on software support and compatibility with individual tools.

Connectivity for demanding workflows

The PexarBolt is designed for creators, workstation users, and PC enthusiasts who need more than standard USB expansion. Its 22-port layout includes two downstream Thunderbolt 5 ports, DisplayPort 2.1 or HDMI 2.1, 10GbE networking, multiple USB ports, audio connectivity, and dedicated memory-card readers.

The card slots support CFexpress Type B, SD UHS-II, and microSD UHS-II media, making the dock suitable for transferring camera footage and other large files. The 10GbE port can connect compatible systems to fast local networks or network-attached storage.

Built-in storage and display support

An internal PCIe Gen 4 x2 M.2 NVMe slot allows users to install their own SSD for local backups or expanded storage. Reported drive performance reaches up to 3,600 MB/s, while active cooling is intended to reduce thermal throttling during sustained transfers.

For displays, Pexar lists support for up to two 8K monitors at 60Hz or three 4K displays at 144Hz, depending on the connection and system configuration. Thunderbolt 5 provides up to 80 Gbps of bidirectional bandwidth, with Bandwidth Boost increasing transmit bandwidth to as much as 120 Gbps for display-heavy workloads.

Power, cooling, and availability

The Thunderbolt 5 host connection supports up to 140W of USB Power Delivery 3.1 for compatible laptops. Two front USB-C ports share up to 45W for charging phones, tablets, and other accessories. An aluminum enclosure provides structural stability and assists heat dissipation, while the internal cooling system monitors fan operation and manages airflow.

Pexar launched the Kickstarter campaign on September 8, 2026, with early-bird pricing from $479. After the campaign, the company plans to sell the PexarBolt Ultra TBT5 Dock at a $649 retail price. The product has also been named a 2026 IFA Innovation Awards honoree in the Content Creation Technology category.
