AMD Kills Off The Radeon VII Already?!

It is just been confirmed that the AMD Radeon VII has reached “end of life” and is no longer in production. This comes just 5 months after the release of the card, which was launched in February 2019! Stores will continue to sell that card until their stocks run out, but not more Radeon VII cards will be made.

The AMD Radeon VII was AMD’s first 7nm-based graphics card featuring the Vega 20 GPU and its 3840 Stream Processors. It was also AMD’s first card to feature 16GB of memory for the consumer market. With AMD’s new Radeon RX 5700 models on the market it became apparent that the Radeon VII is just not competitive in terms of performance and efficiency.

So this has to be the shortest shelf-life of a graphics card we’ve ever seen! Only 5 months! I guess you could say this makes the Radeon VII a collectors item? Well this definitely puts an end to the rumors of custom Radeon VII cards ever coming out.
