AMD’s $299 Zen 3-based Ryzen 5 5600X becomes the fastest single-threaded CPU in Passmark

AMD has been killing it recently with its new gen-hardware. The Zen 3-based Ryzen 5000 series of CPUs have become the best chips you can buy, and this has been proved further now. The AMD Ryzen 5 5600X has been crowned the new single-threaded king of Passmark.

This little detail was spotted by VideoCardz. The AMD Ryzen 5 5600X CPU, which will be retailing for $299, now rests at the top of the PassMark single-thread benchmarks. It is a mid-range chip on paper, facing off against the likes of the Core i5-10600K. However, it is beating Intel’s top dog, the Core i9-10900K, which is some serious flex for AMD.

It scored an impressive 3,495 points versus the i9-10900K’s 3,175. Why this is a big feat for AMD can be seen by taking a look at the top 20 on PassMark single thread. The only AMD CPU in the top 20 is the Ryzen 5 5600X. Take a look:
