With the launch of the Intel Xeon W-3175X 28-core workstation CPU yesterday, Asetek has announced an all-in-one liquid cooling solution specifically made for the processor. The cooler, which is code-named 690LX-PN is a closed-loop cooler developed in collaboration with Intel, and has been approved for use with the 28-core processor.
The 690LX-PN is rated at 500W TDP and makes used of a 360 mm radiator, which is made of copper / brass instead of aluminum, with three 120 mm fans pre-installed. It also uses the company’s latest Gen6-s pump with an integrated copper cold plate.
The cold plate is actually quite large compared to the pump, which could mean that the cooling engine itself is not optimized for the larger heatspreader on the CPU. As of writing this is the only cooler compatible with this CPU platform, and the only one approved by Intel. It is available at the Asetek web shop for $399 and comes with a 2-year warranty.
