ASRock ION 330HT Nettop Review

ION 330HT Overview
The first thing that really surprised me about the ION 330HT when I got it out of the package was actually how small it was! It is only 7.6”(W) x 2.75”(H) x 7.3”(L), which means the area that it takes up is about the size of a normal mouse pad! To give you an idea just how small the ION 330HT is check out the picture below of it beside an Xbox 360 Elite system. The ION330 HT comes in both black and white, we received the black version. ASRock used a glossy finish on the unit, which really makes it stand out.

On the front of the system you have a small power button, HDD indicator LED, DVD Multi drive, and a small row of ventilation holes on the left. There are 3 different versions of the ION 330, there is the normal ION 330, the ION 330HT which we received, and the ION330-BD. The BD version comes with the Blu-ray drive instead of the DVD multi drive.

Moving around back you have all of your connections. Starting left to right you have your AC power connection, audio connections including digital out, Ethernet connection, 6 USB connections, HDMI out, VGA out, and eSATA. Also there is small fan that cools the entire unit.

I decided to open the system up to see what was inside. To open it up just remove the 2 screws on the top panel and slide it off. When we look inside it is very packed. You are able to remove the hard drive and optical drive by removing 2 more screws.

After we get the drives out of the unit you can really see how small and compact the motherboard is. A small fan and 2 large heatsinks cool the CPU and GPU. The memory is laptop memory and can be upgraded from the 2GB preinstalled to 4GB.
