MB561US-4S-1 Overview
The MB561US-4S-1 is one of the most attractive external enclosures that I’ve seen. Most external enclosure’s are boxy and look more industrial than anything else. The MB561US-4S-1 looks hip and modern. It has an aluminum design on the outside with a small ICY DOCK logo on both sides. ICY DOCK says they have designed the MB561US-4S-1 to look like a Mac Mini and it sort of does. On the front of the enclosure you have your 4 bays.
Each bay has its own activity LED and a small button that when pressed will release the drive bay. At the bottom of the enclosure there is a set of ventilation holes that will help keep your drives cool.
As I said to open the bays up you just press down the button on the front of the drive and it will unlock a metal bar that you can use to slide each bay out. The bays themselves are mostly made of aluminum so they are not flimsy at all.
When we remove all of the bays you can see how your drives connect to the MB561US-4S-1’s internal PCB board.
Moving around back you have all of your connections which include power, eSATA and USB 2.0. Also there is a large removable 80mm fan on the back of the enclosure that will most definitely keep everything inside cool. There are speed control settings on the back of the enclosure as well.
