Lenovo Smart Clock Essential with Alexa Built-in Review

Setup

The Lenovo Smart Clock Essential with Alexa Built-in is extremely easy to set up. First plug it in and while you are near it open the Alexa app on your phone. Add a new device and it should pop-up as you go through the prompts. Once you add it to your network you should be good to go, it really is that easy.

When you have the device setup it should display the time, day of the week, weather (icon), and will either show the humidity (in %) and the temperature, or has a live noise meter (in dB).

To get into the settings for the clock is a bit confusing at first. You could think within the Alexa app you would just go to the “Devices” section, then select “Echo & Alexa” and select the “Lenovo Smart Clock”. Now when you do this you get some settings like changing the WiFi network, location, time zone, etc, but any real settings are found somewhere else.

You have to go back to the main devices screen. Then swipe to the left on the icons at the top (Echo & Alexa, Lights, Plugs, etc) until you see the “All Devices” icon with the three little dots. Press it and then you actually find two “Lenovo Smart Clocks” listed. You need to click on the one that has a WiFi icon inside a house. Once you are in this setting you can now adjust the screen brightness, switch between displaying the weather or the noise meter, set the temperature to Fahrenheit or Celsius, set auto screen brightness, set the clock to 12 or 24 hour, and turn the screen off completely.
