Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella says more acquisitions for Xbox Game Studios in the cards

Microsoft has been quite aggressive with acquiring new studios for its Xbox Game Studios brand. The latest one to join the foray is ZeniMax Media, the holding company of many other studios like Bethesda and iD Software. It seems like this one will be the last one, though, as Microsoft has plans to acuire more studios, revealed CEO Satya Nadella.

ZeniMax Media and its 8 studios will join Xbox Game Studios, taking the grand total to 23, post the $7.5 billion acquisition. Xbox has been flexing its power in services as PlayStation focuses on exclusives. Now, Xbox will be making games for PlayStation as a result of this acquisition. Satya Nadella says this is just the beginning:

“We will always look for places where there is that coincidence of purpose, mission and culture. We will seek to grow inorganic where it makes sense.”

Xbox head Phil Spencer also commented on this approach:

“Content is just the amazing ingredient on our platform that we continue to invest in.”

Xbox Game Studios have also left their acquired studios more or less untouched, which is a good thing. Serial acquisitions are bound to bring in antitrust attention, but Xbox’s modus operandi makes it a good deal for both parties.

We can expect all of ZeniMax’s titles to come to Xbox Game Pass soon. Thoughts? Hit us up in the comments, down below!
