MINISFORUM has released their AR900i, which is a MoDT (mobile on desktop) mini-ITX motherboard that has a hardwired Intel Core i9-13900HS mobile processor and pre-installed cooling solution. The board of course comes as a single package and MINISFORUM is asking $559 for it. That is actually a pretty good deal as the Intel Core i9-13900HX is completely maxed out chip that features all 8 P-cores and all 16 E-cores on the “Raptor Lake” silicon.
Your P-cores are going to boost up to 5.4 GHz, while your E-cores will boost up to 3.9 GHz. Compared to a desktop CPU this processor has completely different power specifications as the base power is 55W, while the maximum power is 157W.
Since we have a hardwired CPU it cannot be upgraded. MINISFORUM has designed a specific cooling solution for this board that makes use of a 80mm case fan and large aluminum fin stack. There is also a secondary heatsink + fan combo that is for the two M.2 slots that sit above the processor on the board. These slots are actually PCI-Express 5.0 x4, but if you populate both you’ll take lanes from the boards only PCI-Express 5.0 x16 slot.
There is also a M.2 E-key slot that you can use with your own WLAN card and the board comes with dual-MIMO ready connectors on the rear I/O. Also on the rear I/o you’ll find audio connections, 2.5G LAN, two USB 2.0 ports, USB-4 (Type-C), two HDMI ports, and two USB 3.2 ports. For memory since this is a mobile platform you are going to have two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots that will support up to 96GB of memory. You get power to the board by way of a 24-pin ATX power connection and 8-pin EPS connector.
