MSI has announced a limited-edition GeForce RTX 5080 built around Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Developed with Activision, the 16GB card pairs the familiar RTX 5080 platform with a military-inspired design, including a bright yellow heatsink and a backplate window featuring Ghost. Availability is scheduled for October 23, 2026.
Key takeaways
- The RTX 5080 16G COD MW4 Edition OC is a design-focused collaboration with Activision.
- It features a yellow-painted cooling assembly and a transparent backplate section showing Ghost and part of the PCB.
- Sales are planned for selected countries starting October 23, 2026; pricing and production numbers are unannounced.
For PC builders, the main distinction from other RTX 5080 cards is the custom appearance. MSI has not announced a different GPU configuration or performance figures for this edition.
A custom look for the RTX 5080
The card’s military-inspired shroud uses Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 graphics and yellow accents. MSI has also painted the heatsink yellow, which the company describes as a first for a graphics card cooling assembly. The finish is cosmetic; MSI says it is not intended to change cooling performance.
A transparent section in the backplate provides a view of part of the PCB alongside a portrait of Ghost. The result is a more conspicuous display piece than a standard RTX 5080, particularly in systems with a windowed case.
TRIO FROZR 4 cooling
Under the custom finish, MSI uses its TRIO FROZR 4 thermal design. It includes three STORMFORCE fans with claw-textured blades and a nickel-plated copper baseplate. MSI also lists Wave Curved 4.0 and Air Antegrade Fin 2.0 features, which are designed to guide airflow through the cooler.
The company says the setup is intended to balance heat dissipation and noise. It has not published temperature or acoustic measurements for this edition, so its real-world cooling performance relative to other RTX 5080 models remains to be tested.
Availability and what buyers should know
MSI plans to sell the card through participating retailers and its E-SHOP in selected countries beginning October 23, 2026. The date coincides with the scheduled launch of Modern Warfare 4, but MSI has not identified all regions or retail partners. Pricing, production quantities and the card’s clock speeds have not been announced.
The announcement also does not mention a game code or other software bundle. Buyers should therefore weigh the special-edition design against the eventual price premium and availability; MSI has not indicated that the card offers a performance advantage over standard RTX 5080 models.
