SK hynix Platinum P41 Overview
Taking a first look at the drive it is your typical M.2 2280 (80mm) drive which can be installed on a motherboard or in a laptop. This time we have a black PCB and a simple sticker on top of the drive. This drive does not come with any type of heatsink, for most people that won’t be a problem as most motherboards come with M.2 heatsinks these days.
Flipping over to the back we can see that the drive is single-sided, which makes it great for thinner laptops. The only thing on the back is a smaller sticker with all of your relevant information.
If we carefully peel the sticker off the drive we can get a better look at the components. Powering the drive is SK hynix’s own Aries controller, which is an 8-channel controller. Then we have two SK hynix 176-layer TLC NAND chips and a SK hynix LPDDR4 DRAM cache chip.
