Wi-Fi is great if there is little interference and congestion. Although as more and more people add Wi-Fi to their homes and businesses, 2.4GHz, and 5GHz bands aren't enough to alleviate congestion and cross-interference between networks. 802.11ad can provide a huge jump in throughput and less congestion since it utilizes the 60GHz band. TP-LINK just announced Talon, a MU-MIMO 802.11ad router with max throughput of 7.2Gbps.
