Thermaltake Max 5G USB 3.0 External Hard Drive Enclosure Review

Max 5G Overview & Installation
The Max 5G is made to look attractive whether it is sitting on your desk on on top of your tower.  It has an all black design, which is made up of plastic and brushed aluminum.  On the front part of the Max 5G is a long blue activity LED.

The left side of the enclosure has a mesh design with the Thermaltake logo towards the bottom.  This mesh design is not only for looks, but also for the 2 80mm blue LED cooling fans.  The opposite side of the enclosure is pretty plain expect for the Max 5G logo.

On the backside of the enclosure you will find all of your connections and controls.  There is a single USB 3.0 connection, power connection, power button and LED on / off switch for the fans.  I like that you are able to turn the LEDs on the fans off.  The bottom part of the enclosure houses a pull out stand for better stability if you are going to use the enclosure in the upright mode.

We will be installing a Samsung HD753LJ 750GB SATA hard drive in the enclosure.  The first thing you want to do is take the supplied hex screwdriver and remove the 2 hex screws on the right side of the enclosure.  Then remove that entire side to open the enclosure up.  Finally side in your drive, connect it to the internal SATA connector and you are good to go.  Close the enclosure up and you are ready to use the Max 5G.
