A Gears-themed take on 8BitDo’s Retro 87
The 87-key, tenkeyless Retro 87 gets a black-and-red treatment inspired by the devastation of Emergence Day. Fractured-earth graphics and COG insignias appear across the board, while the number-row keys from 1 to 4 feature designs referencing the Lancer, Gnasher, Boltok Pistol and Frag Grenade. The package also includes two wired Dual Super Buttons for macros or other assigned functions.
Underneath the themed keycaps, the keyboard uses Cloud Gray mechanical switches co-developed with Huano and a hot-swappable PCB, allowing users to replace switches without soldering. Other features include RGB lighting, N-key rollover and programmable controls. It connects over Bluetooth LE 5.3, 2.4GHz wireless or USB-C and works with Windows 10 (version 1903 or later) and Android 9.0 or later. 8BitDo’s Ultimate Software V2 supports further customization, while the Super Buttons can be mapped without software.
Retro R8 mouse completes the setup
The matching Retro R8 carries the same crimson-and-black styling, with translucent red details and a branded charging dock. Its PAW 3395 sensor supports six DPI settings, and programmable buttons and left- or right-handed mode switching provide options for different control preferences. The dock also acts as a 2.4GHz signal extender and provides a place to store the wireless receiver.
The mouse supports Bluetooth, 2.4GHz wireless and wired USB-C. Its 450mAh rechargeable battery is rated for up to 100 hours over Bluetooth, with runtime over 2.4GHz varying by use. 8BitDo also lists polling-rate adjustment through its software.

Preorders are available through 8BitDo’s online store, and the keyboard is also listed at Amazon. The Retro 87 is priced at $119.99, with the Retro R8 at $59.99; both are set to ship October 30.
