ADATA DashDrive Choice HC630 USB 3.0 Hard Drive Review

Final Thoughts
Back when I reviewed ADATA’s DashDrive HV610 drive I pointed out the fact that ADATA was able to set the HV610 apart from other portable hard drives out there. With the HC630 that really is not the case, it is pretty much a plain USB 3.0 portable hard drive. The only real difference between this drive and others is the cool design on the top of the drive. If blue isn’t your cup of tea ADATA does have a special edition Red (Holiday) version of this drive.

While this drive is not much different than many other drives out there it does get the job done. For users that want a simple to use portable hard drive the HC630 is it. You just plug it in and you are good to go, simple as that. It features a USB 3.0 connection so you know transfer speeds are going to be fast and it is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 for those who do not have USB 3.0 connections on their PC.

I do have to say that the construction of the enclosure seems cheaper than what we saw on the HV610. This is of course expected as the HC630 is part of the “Choice” line of drives. At the end of the day the drive does what it is supposed to do. I was not able to find the HC630 for sale anywhere so I cannot comment on price, but if it falls in line with other portable hard drives at the same capacity I would say its as good of a choice as any. Overall ThinkComputers gives the ADATA DashDrive Choice HC630 USB 3.0 Hard Drive a 9 out of 10 score.
