ADATA SP610 Solid State Drive Overview
The ADATA SP610 is your typical 2.5-inch solid state drive. It has a black metal casing and on the front there is a large sticker with the ADATA logo and it lets us know the capacity, which is 256GB.
Flipping the drive over there are 4 mounting holes and another large sticker that has the model number and warranty code number in the case you need to RMA the drive.
The drive is 7mm thick, which means it will fit in Ultrabooks and other smaller devices. It does come with a 7mm to 9.5mm adapter if you need to install it in a larger device. There are also two mounting holes on each side of the drive.
At the end of the drive you will find the typical SATA data and power connections.
Opening up the drive is very simple, you just remove 2 screws from each side of the drive. Upon opening the drive up we can see the PCB is extremely small, about half the size of the typical PCB we see inside 2.5-inch solid state drives. There are four NAND chips on this size, which are labeled as ADATA. From what we know this is Micron MLC NAND flash.
Removing 3 more screws we can take the PCB completely out. Flipping it over there are four more NAND chips, the Silicon Motion SM2246EN four channel controller and a NANYA 256MB DDR3 DRAM cache chip.
