We all must have heard about the Ryzen 7000 “AM5” package by AMD and how the company has shown keen interest in sharing its mockup renders and pictures. The AM5 comes as a complete package built with a brand new heat-spreader which will be integrated. So far the mockups released by AMD don’t seem to be the real deal. The pictures that have been shared now clearly mention ‘AMD ENG SAMPLE’ on them.
There was another in January this year which gave away two OPN codes for the engineering samples from AMD. These two were 665 and 666. From what we know, the 665 is possibly a 16-core CPU which will feature 32 threads while the 666 on the other hand will only feature an 8-core CPU. Considering this configuration, one might assume that this will be a Ryzen 9 7950X(T) SKU.
The 665 coded sample was shown on the MilkyWay@Home leak where it was confirmed that there were 32 processors. This is who the resultant 32 threads were known. This leak surfaced back in December 2021 so we know that this sample is very old.
