ASRock A330ION nVidia MCP7A-ION Mini-ITX Motherboard Review

Installation

Test Rig:
ASRock A330ION w/ Intel Atom 330
Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR3-1333
Thermaltake Element Q Mini-ITX Case w/ included 220 Watt PSU
Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit

Wow…that was pretty weird…only three items of hardware in the description of the Test Rig. But the motherboard already has the processor installed, I am going to use the onboard graphics, and the case comes with what should be a suitable power supply. I pretty much never use stock cooling, but I didn’t have anything available for the Atom. There are actually aftermarket coolers made for it though.

Since the CPU and cooler are already installed, you just pop in the memory and I/O panel….

….and place the motherboard in the case.

Since the connectors are a little scattered, I decided I had better use the manual when wiring up the board. ASRock knew you might have a little trouble here, so they located a “Pin Header Easy Installation Guide” on the inside cover of the manual. The pins really weren’t as scattered as I thought they were, but the guide still came in very handy.

This case, as most I suppose, has the motherboard nearly entirely hidden when installation is completed.
