ASUS Maximus VIII Extreme Motherboard Pictured

ASUS recently showed off their flagship Republic of Gamers Maximus VIII Extreme motherboard. This board will offer the largest feature set from ASUS on a Z170 Express chipset board. The board is quite large and ASUS has gone with a black and dark orange color design rather than the black and red we have seen in the past from their ROG line. This color design actually made its debut with the GeForce GTX 980 Ti MATRIX Platinum graphics card, which is pictured below as well.

The board features a 16-phase VRM and draws power from a combination of 24-pin ATX, 8-pin EPS, and 4-pin ATX power connectors. The CPU socket is wired to four DDR4 DIMM slot. For expansion slots you have four PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots. For storage you have a SFF-8639 U.2 32 Gb/s connector, an M.2 32 Gb/s slot, two SATA-Express 16 Gb/s, and eight SATA 6 Gb/s ports. Networking is all Intel powered and includes 802.11 ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and Gigabit Ethernet. The board has the new SupremeFX audio solution, which uses a lot of technology that ASUS uses on their discrete motherboards. As expected the board will have many overclocking and tuning features like power and reset buttons on the board, a dual-BIOS, dip-switches for the PCI-E slots and more!
