ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero (WiFi) Motherboard Review

Software & Lights

ASUS manages all of their software through a new piece of software called Armoury Crate. It makes it quite easy to download and install all of your drivers, software, etc.

The AURA Sync settings are actually in this app as well. You can see all of the AURA Sync devices in your system and you can easily adjust the effects.

As far as RGB lights on the board you have the “HERO” section on the rear I/O cover and the ROG logo on the chipset heatsink. It is actually nice that ASUS designed the ROG logo to sit below where your graphics card is so it is not covered up.

Now we would typically tell you about ASUS Ai Suite III, but for some reason it would not install for us through Armoury Crate. Each time it would download, say it is installing and then ask us to restart. Upon restarting the app was not installed and we would just go through the whole process over again. Not sure why this did not work, but Ai Suite III is actually not even listed under the downloads on the ROG Crosshair VIII Hero page on the ASUS website.
