AZIO MK Retro Mechanical Keyboard Review

Usage & Final Thoughts
I have been using the MK Retro as my main keyboard for the past couple of weeks. The first thing you are going to need to do is actually get used to the keyboard. its design is unlike most keyboards so you will need some time to adjust. It took me a few hours to get used to the MK Retro, but I would assume it would take most people an at least a day.

One thing I really do like about the MK Retro is the mechanical key switches. They are of course blue-type switches which give you a nice audible click when pressed and have a nice tactile feedback as well. These are primarily known as typist switches as they give you the best of both worlds when it comes to typing and gaming features. As I said I prefer these switches compared to most others. Mechanical switches are not something you typically see on non-gaming keyboards. It is great to see them here, not only are they more comfortable to use compared to a dome or scissor style, but they are more precise. This means you get full NKRO over USB so you will not miss a keystroke.

The big draw to this keyboard is its retro-themed design, fashioned after a old typewriters. So you have some pretty awesome circular keycaps with large white font. That is matched with chrome trim around each key as well as around the entire keyboard. It is finished with a glossy black deck that really sets the entire keyboard off. This keyboard is going to get attention anywhere you put it, especially if you have it at a LAN party of office setting.

Right now this keyboard is selling for $109.99 at our favorite online retailer. That price makes things a little interesting as we’ve seen and reviewed many mechanical gaming keyboards that offer backlighting, programmable keys, and much more for around the same price. What those keyboard do not offer is the truly unique design that the MK Retro has.

I think at the end of the day this keyboard definitely has its place for the people who want it. AZIO did the smart thing by making it a quality keyboard with mechanical key switches. Overall ThinkComputers gives the MK Retro Mechanical Keyboard a 9 out of 10 score.
