BenQ Zowie XL2546 e-Sports Monitor Overview
As we mentioned most of the gaming displays that are marketed towards us are flashy and over-the-top, but the BenQ Zowie XL2546 has a very subtle look to it. It has a dark grey frame and stand. The panel that BenQ is using is a TN panel, which is of course better at handling high frame rates. The 24.5-inch panel will give you a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 with a 240 Hz refresh rate, and 1 ms response time.
There are no real markings, over-sized logos, or anything like that on the front of the display. On the far right you have a large power button as well as five control buttons. These buttons will help you navigate the on-screen menu. The base on the monitor is a large rectangle with a cut-out for the S-Switch Arc controller. This controller will also allow you to control the on-screen menu, but also has three buttons to easily switch your profile without having to navigate any menus to do so.
Taking a look at the monitor from the side we can see how thick it is. While the panel itself is not all that thick, the included stand does take up a decent amount of space.
On the left side of the monitor you will find two USB 3.0 ports, headset and microphone ports, and a pop-out headset holder.
Moving around to the back we get a first look at the awesome stand the BenQ Zowie XL2546. The back of the monitor is also the only place you’ll find any logos. There is a BenQ logo on the stand and a Zowie logo on the back of the monitor. The first thing you’ll notice about the stand is that it has a large cutout in it to route your cables. The stand also sits on a circular base that allows you to easily swivel the screen to change the angle.
This display has some pretty impressive height adjustment, which works by just lifting up on the monitor. Below are two shots, the first is the monitor at its lowest height setting and the second is at its highest. Pretty safe to say you won’t have the need for a monitor stand.
The stand also gives you the ability to angle the display up or down, but also completely change the orientation of the display. So if you wanted a vertical display you could have one. At the top of the stand you have a handle. This makes it easy to transport the display to LAN events and competitions.
This display also comes with left and right “shields”, which are optional, but you can install them on either side of the display. These are meant to eliminate distractions and keep you more in the game. The can be adjusted to sit flush with the monitor or at a 90-degree angle out from the monitor.
As I mentioned this display does come with a cover. This cover easily goes on top of the entire monitor and stand. It will help keep dust off your monitor and of course protect it if you happen to take this monitor with you anywhere. There is even a hole cut in the top for the handle on the stand.
