BenQ Zowie XL2546 e-Sports Monitor Review

Final Thoughts
BenQ definitely has a specific type of gamer in mind with the Zowie XL2546. It is definitely a gamer who plays face-paced types of games, typically first-person shooters. A gamer who is more interested in performance rather than looks or features that really do not help gameplay at all. This display packs in quite a lot for that type of gamer. First off you have a 1920 x 1080 TN panel with a 240 Hz refresh rate and 1 ms response time. Playing any game at 240 Hz is quite incredible, especially if you are moving from a 60 Hz display. Some might complain that this is only a 1080p display, but if you moved up any higher you would need something really, really powerful to push the monitor to its full potential.

BenQ has packed this monitor not just with the right specs, but with tech and features that will actually improve your gameplay. First you have Zowie’s Dynamic Accuracy technology (DyAc). This allows for smooth playback ever during the most insane in-game movements. It definitely helps when gun recoil is introduced. While many people might think this is a gimmick, it actually works and is noticeable when playing on the XL2546 and a monitor that does not have it. The second thing is the Black eQualizer, which increases visibility in dark scenes without overexposing the bright areas. This allows you to pick-out players that might be hiding in these areas. Another great feature is the S-Switch Arc controller which has three buttons on it to easily switch the profile you are on, not have to go into the OSD and do it. This can come in handy, especially if you are in the middle of a match.

This display has one of the best and most functional stands I’ve seen. You have quite a lot of height adjustment, you can swivel the monitor from side to side, adjust the angle, and even completely change the orientation. On top of that there is a handle built into it, making it easy to take with you to LAN events and tournaments.

The only real downside to this display is its price. Right now it is selling $443.27 at our favorite online retailer. That puts it in the range of many 1440p 144 Hz gaming displays, and even 4K 60 Hz displays. Obviously these other displays don’t have what the BenQ Zowie XL2546 does in terms of performance, but it you are a casual gamer those might suit you better and the higher resolution is definitely better for productivity.

At the end of the day this is one of the best gaming displays out there for serious gamers. Overall ThinkComputers gives the BenQ Zowie XL2546 e-Sports Monitor a 9 out of 10 score.
