Fanatec and Trak Racer are using SimRacing Expo 2026 in Frankfurt to preview new hardware across racing, motorcycle, truck, and flight simulation. Fanatec’s headline reveal is Project Obsidian, a next-generation steering wheel prototype targeting a 2027 launch. The showcase also includes new licensed products and hardware available now or planned for later this year.
Key takeaways
- Project Obsidian pairs a 5-inch color display with SimHub compatibility and is targeting a 2027 launch.
- The ClubSport Formula V3 Oracle Red Bull Racing wheel is scheduled for mid-November 2026.
- Fanatec’s two-pedal Podium Pedals Sport is available starting October 16.
- Trak Racer is showing motorcycle, automotive, flight, and truck simulation equipment.
Together, the announcements cover both new product development and additions to the companies’ existing simulation ecosystems.
Project Obsidian previews Fanatec’s next wheel platform
The Project Obsidian prototype puts a 5-inch high-resolution color LCD beneath a single glass surface that also integrates RevLEDs and rotary-switch illumination. It has RGB-backlit buttons and an aluminum structure, with telemetry data for SimHub available over USB or Wi-Fi. Fanatec says Wi-Fi is primarily intended for UDP telemetry, a format that supports broad compatibility with console games.
The wheel is being shown early so the sim racing community can see the design direction and provide feedback during development. Fanatec has not announced pricing or a specific release date beyond its 2027 target.
Red Bull Racing hardware and pedals arrive in 2026
The ClubSport Formula V3 Oracle Red Bull Racing wheel is based on Fanatec’s Formula V3 platform. Its features include a 2.7-inch white OLED display, updated ergonomics and controls, a forged-carbon finish, and the preinstalled Podium Advanced Paddle Module. The officially licensed design draws inspiration from the RB22 and marks the team’s 22nd year. It is scheduled to go on sale in mid-November 2026.
Fanatec also announced a licensed Oracle Red Bull Racing version of its ClubSport Formula Cockpit, adapting a setup used in F1 FanZone and Paddock Club activations for home installation. Meanwhile, the two-pedal Podium Pedals Sport is available from Fanatec starting October 16. Its adjustable aluminum GT-style pedal plates support left- or right-foot braking, and the unit is compatible with a forthcoming clutch module.
Trak Racer spans more simulation disciplines
Trak Racer’s display includes two TRZ Motorcycle Simulators, which use passive mechanical feedback and a proprietary steering system designed to reproduce rider movement. Its car-simulation lineup features Porsche, BWT Alpine Formula One Team, and Aston Martin Aramco-branded systems, alongside Hot Wheels-branded cockpits and a wheel stand.
The broader range includes the Airbus TR550 flight cockpit, the TRK Truck Driving Simulator with a purpose-developed seat, a white TR160 cockpit, and the heavy-duty TR200 “Tank.” Fanatec accessories on display include D-BOX mounting brackets planned for release before the 2026 holiday season and customizable ClubSport GT Cockpit livery panels.
More platforms on the show floor
The expo also marks the European public debut of Fanatec’s ClubSport F1 Racing System, combining a PlayStation-licensed ClubSport DD+ wheel base rated at 18 Nm with a Formula V3-based wheel and advanced paddle module. Visitors can try configurations for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, including an upcoming PlayStation 5 version of BeamNG.drive ahead of its planned Early Access release on October 19.
