First Firefox OS Smartphone Launches in Spain Tomorrow

We have been waiting quite a while to see a Firefox OS powered smartphone come to consumers and tomorrow the first Firefox OS smartphone will launch in Spain. The phone is the ZTE Open and service provider Telefónica lets us know that the device will be available at Movistar stores for €69 includes €30 of prepaid talk time. That is about $90 USD for those wondering.

ZTE Open

You may be thinking this price is low that is because the Firefox OS platform is not made to compete in the high-end mobile space. The ZTE Open’s specifications are as follows:

– 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7225A
– 256 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM
– 3.5-inch HVGA (480 x 320) Display
– 3.15 MP Camera
– 1200 mAh Battery
– Firefox OS

ZTE Open

Telefónica also said they intend to release a “wide range” of Firefox OS devices this year. The means the ZTE Open is only the tip of the iceberg.
