Despite M2 and NVMe SSD’s times, the launch for a new SATA SSD can be accepted. It is because motherboards provide several M.2 slots, but most of them are inaccessible or cause your pc to heat as they interfere with the airflow. A drop in price has also been observed for NVMe SSD, but the practicality and price of the 2.5 SATA SSD are still incomparable.
Due to this, Hewlett-Packard (HP) has introduced a new HP SSD S750 2.5″ (SATA 3 interface) in their S700 series lineup. This SSD has been made with their partner BIWIN, who has spent 25 years in research and development (R&D) in storage and microelectronics.
Some of the feature highlights of the SSD include a Next-Generation 96-layer 3D NAND Flash. It also has a SATA 3 connection with a maximum read speed of 560MB/s. It is a Full Capacity SSD, which means that if you purchase a 120GB SSD, so you will get all the space. In other SSDs, you get a little less space, usually 100GB to 110GB.
The on-paper specification indicates that SATA3 has the highest speed. The announced maximum read and write speed of 560MB/s can also be believed and are great speed for this form factor. There will be 3 different variants offered in the S750 model, and the storage capacity is the only difference among all the variants. These variants will offer 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB of storage capacity. They will almost have the same read and write speeds. It is due to different NAND die sizes, thus resulting in diff read/write IOPS.
Till now, HP hasn’t announced any information regarding pricing and its availability.
