Icy Dock MB981U3-1S Hard Drive Dock Review

Final Thoughts
As I said in the introduction of this review a hard drive dock always comes in handy. I always have one around and we have hard drive docks connected to our test systems here at ThinkComputers. They just make it so easy to transfer files from a hard drive to your system. There have been times where I was building a new system and I forgot to take a few key files off of the hard drive before re-formatting and with a hard drive dock I was easily able to transfer those files last minute to my laptop without having to put the old system back together.

The MB981U3-1S from Icy Dock allows you to use both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch hard drives and uses USB 3.0, which is extremely fast. On top of that it offers UASP support to speed USB 3.0 transfers up even more, not every hard drive dock has UASP support. Icy Dock also offers the MB981U3S-1S which has both an eSATA and USB 3.0 connection. On top of that there is the Flex MB981U3-1SA which has a pop-out adapter that gives you support for both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch IDE hard drives.

A hard drive dock is a great thing to have around especially if you are doing any type of hard drive recovery or are building system. Again its just a convenience and makes things so much easier. Right now the MB981U3-1S is selling at my favorite online retailer for $35, which is a price you really cannot argue with. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Icy Dock MB981U3-1S a 10 out of 10 score.
