Final Thoughts on the KLEVV CRAS C925G Gen4 Solid State Drive
KLEVV rates this drive at 7400 MB/s read and 6500 MB/s write and in a majority of our tests it performed right up to those specifications. In CrystalDiskMark we saw sequential read and write speeds of 7331.59 MB/s and 6438.20 MB/s respectively. So if you are looking for a drive to max out the limitations of the PCI-Express 4.0 x4 this is going to be it.
We did notice some write anomalies with this drive as we were actually to replicate it over and over again using ATTO Disk Benchmark. During this test when writing 48MB of data the drive would drop down to about half of its normal speed. We confirmed that this was not a thermal throttle issue. So it was a very weird occurrence. Our linear write test did not show this anomaly as we were able to write about 30% off the drive before we saw a performance hit, which is pretty standard for DRAM-less drives.
KLEVV does back this drive up with a 5 year warranty to give you piece of mind and the drive also comes with a copy of Acronis True Image.
With the current state of DRAM and storage pricing and availability are massive factors. Luckily you are able to pick this drive up in all three capacities at multiple retailers. The only caveat is that pricing has increased quite a lot. The 2TB is $299, while the 1TB is $165.99, and the 500GB will set you back $99.99. Overall ThinkComputers gives the KLEVV CRAS C925G Gen4 Solid State Drive an 8 out of 10 score.
Pros:
– Great read performance
– Single-sided design
– No thermal issues
– 5 year warranty
Cons:
– Some weird write anomalies
– No 4TB option
– Storage prices right now (not KLEVV’s fault)
