Lexar NM790 Gen4 Solid State Drive Review

Lexar NM790 Overview

The NM790 is your typical M.2 2280 drive, which makes it 80mm long. On the main side there is a sticker that does let us know we have the NM790 drive. The sticker is actually a thin heatspreader. This thin heatspreader will provide a bit of cooling, but since this is a low-power, DRAMless drive it shouldn’t really get that hot.

Flipping the drive over we can see that we do have a single-sided drive. On the back there is a sticker that has all of the information you need about the drive.

As I mentioned this drive is powered by the Maxio Tech MAP1602-C 4-channel controller and YMTC 232-Layer TLC NAND flash chips. This is a truly DRAMless design so we do not have a cache chip.
