Is the MSI MEG CORELIQUID E15 360 Worth Picking Up?
The MSI MEG CORELIQUID E15 360 is easily one of the most ambitious all-in-one liquid CPU coolers we have reviewed. While most AIO manufacturers are adding larger screens and more elaborate lighting, MSI has taken things a step further with premium materials, an integrated single-frame fan assembly, simplified cable management, and a massive curved AMOLED display. The result is a cooler that feels more like a centerpiece for a high-end PC build than a conventional cooling component.
The defining is of course the massive 6.67-inch curved AMOLED display. With its sharp 2240 × 1080 resolution, deep blacks, vibrant colors, and 110-degree curve, it is one of the most impressive screens we have seen on a liquid CPU cooler. MSI’s EZ Display software allows you to show system information, images, videos, or separate content across the front and side portions of the panel. You can even use it as an extended Windows display. It was a bit odd that .GIFs were not supported in the software, especially since they were on the MSI MPG CORELIQUID P22 360 we recently reviewed.
Of course, cooling performance remains the most important part of any liquid CPU cooler, and the E15 360 has the hardware to handle demanding modern processors. Its 30 mm-thick aluminum radiator is slightly thicker than what you will find on many competing 360 mm AIOs, while the three-phase pump provides consistent coolant circulation through the system. The single-frame fan assembly can also move a substantial amount of air through the dense radiator fins. The fans can become quite noticeable at their maximum speed, but the cooler performs well enough that you should not need to run them at full speed during normal gaming or everyday use.
MSI has also put considerable thought into simplifying installation and cable management. The pre-installed fan assembly, magnetic display connection, universal mounting hardware, and single USB-C connection help reduce the usual mess of fan, lighting, pump, and display cables. I was a bit disappointed to find out that this break-out cable was not long enough to reach my bottom USB 2.0 header on my motherboard when I had the cooler installed with the tubes facing the front of my system. This was odd as MSI’s own installation manual shows the cooler installed that way. So I had to install the cooler the opposite way. Longer cables would provide much more installation flexibility, especially in larger cases. The reverse-spinning center fan and Cooling Safeguard feature are also welcome additions that make the E15 360 more than just an attractive cooler with a large screen.
This is a flagship product, with a flagship price of $399.99. Much of that cost is tied to the massive AMOLED display and premium construction. If you only care about cooling performance, there are more affordable 360 mm AIOs that will get the job done. However, the MEG CORELIQUID E15 360 is not designed to be a basic cooling solution. It is intended to become one of the main visual features of a high-end system, and it succeeds at that while still delivering the cooling performance expected from a flagship AIO. If you want a powerful liquid cooler with excellent build quality, simplified cabling, and one of the most impressive displays available on any CPU cooler, the MSI MEG CORELIQUID E15 360 is certainly worth considering. Overall ThinkComputers gives the MSI MEG CORELIQUID E15 360 Liquid CPU Cooler a 9 out of 10 score.
